Veronika's Story

Veronika was born and raised in Russia. As a young girl she spent much of her time surrounded by dozens of animals. She had a mini zoo in her bedroom: parrots, hamsters, guinea pigs, and fish plus the family cat and German shepherd. Her spare time during summer breaks was spent bringing in stray dogs and cats to rehabilitate them. She invested her time building shelters for them, treating their illnesses, and finding them forever homes. She was passionate about providing a high level of care to animals, and dreamed of becoming a veterinarian some day. She instead was encouraged to apply to law school, but never lost her passion for animal care and health.

In 2013 Veronika moved to the United States. After settling into her new lifestyle, she knew she was ready to open her home to animals once again. She was excited to welcome a Labrador Retriever named Winston into her heart. Unfortunately, at only four months old Winston was diagnosed with a serious and very rare genetic disease affecting his joints and bones. Tapping into her childhood passion, Veronika started researching ways she could help her pup. Winston would eventually need four major surgeries, including having steel plates implanted in both front legs. While nursing him through recovery, Veronika began to focus on the impact diet can have on pet health and well being.

Thus began her dive into the world of animal nutrition and wellness, which led to her achieving her Dog Food Nutrition Certificates. Although Winston’s veterinarian was skeptical that nutrition would have any effect on his health, Veronika had done thorough research and was committed to the belief that food is medicine. She began feeding a high quality raw diet.

Two years later, the same veterinarian was shocked to see that Winston was walking without a limp, had great range of motion in his joints, and was in overall great health! Now Winston enjoys exercise and daily training along with his very athletic Belgian Malinois brother, Archer. Unfortunately, just like Veronika, most pet owners cannot rely on conventional veterinary opinions regarding nutrition. The corporate pet food industry has done a brilliant job of marketing the idea that our four legged family members can simply eat the same dry, overly processed kibble every day of their lives. Not only is that terribly boring, as dogs and cats love flavor and variety, but most important it is detrimental to the health of your pet.
